How does Instant AI keep customer subscriber status up to date and compliant?

Instant AI only sends emails to people who’ve entered their email address on your site and are currently subscribed to email marketing across every platform that you have. This ensures complete compliance between all of your channels that are actively synced in real time.

Before sending any email, we check in real time to validate if they’re still subscribed in every platform, including:

  1. Instant AI
  2. Shopify
  3. Klaviyo (if connected)

For every profile, we gather the latest subscription status and prioritise the most recent update and use this to validate we are still compliant to send. If they’re unsubscribed in any of those places, we don’t send the email and will subsequently update all systems.

What if I use an ESP other than Klaviyo?

If you’re using another platform as your ESP that isn't Klaviyo, it's critical to ensure that the platform is actively syncing all subscriber events back to Shopify. We have a robust integration with Shopify to ensure that the marketing email subscription is in sync. As long as your ESP is updating Shopify, we will continue to respect all subscription updates in Shopify, and equally this will ensure your alternative ESP is updating their subscription status if there are updates from Instant AI. To avoid mismatched data, make sure your email platform keeps Shopify in sync and all subscriber status' will remain compliant.


FAQ’s

  1. What if someone unsubscribes from a Klaviyo or another email provider I'm not integrated with? If you use Klaviyo, we automatically detect that unsubscribe and stop sending. If you use another platform (like Omnisend), we’ll only know about the unsubscribe if it’s synced to Shopify. That’s why it’s essential your ESP updates subscriber status in Shopify. Once you ensure that your ESP is updating Shopify, you can trust that Instant will keep the data compliant and in sync 
  2. Can someone be re-identified if they unsubscribed? We may still recognise who they are on-site using past behaviour, but we won’t send them any emails if they are unsubscribed in any system we check. We will identify them to check if they are their subscription status and won't email. If they explicitly re-subscribe in the future we can update their subscription in all platforms .
  3. How does Instant manage suppressed profiles in Klaviyo?
    By default, if a profile is suppressed in Klaviyo Instant won't email them. Suppressed contacts are managed like unsubscribed contacts and won't be contacted, however we won't sync this data to Shopify. In the instance you've bulk suppressed profiles to manage billing concerns in Klaviyo and want to unsuppress them in Instant please contact your Customer Success Manager or help@instant.one for support to unsuppress profiles in bulk
