Reviews are one of the strongest drivers of trust and conversion. Instant AI automatically includes them in your emails so shoppers can see real feedback at the right moment, without you needing to set anything up.
Star Ratings in Product Blocks
Whenever you use a Product Block that includes the product price and product description, Instant AI will automatically add star ratings and review counts (from supported providers).
-
If a product has no reviews, ratings will be hidden.
-
If the average rating is below 4 stars, we also hide it.
-
Ratings appear in any flow that includes product blocks, for example Abandoned Cart, Checkout, Browse Abandonment, or Welcome flows.
-
If you’re using a product block that is images only, star ratings will also be hidden.
We currently support:
-
Okendo
-
Judge.me
-
Reviews.io
-
Loox
-
Stamped
As long as your reviews are available on your product pages through one of these providers, Instant AI will read and display them automatically. No integration or API is required.
Note: Klaviyo Reviews is not a supported provider. If your reviews are powered by Klaviyo Reviews, we cannot read them, so star ratings and testimonials will not appear. The exception is if an older, supported provider’s reviews are still saved on your product pages (see “If you’ve switched review providers” below).
Support for other providers may be available depending on how they store their review data. Some providers store reviews in a way that cannot be read, so those reviews will not appear.
Star ratings versus written quotes
Support can also vary within a single provider. Some providers give us the star rating and review count, but not the written quotes. When that happens, star ratings will still show in Product Blocks, but Social Proof Blocks will stay hidden because there are no readable quotes to display.
Current examples where we can read the review count but not the written quotes are Loox and Judge.me. Judge.me recently changed how reviews load on the page, so we can now read the review count but not the individual quotes.
If you’ve switched review providers
Instant AI reads one provider’s data per product. If you’ve moved from one provider to another, and your old provider’s reviews are still saved on your product pages, we may keep reading those older reviews instead of your new ones.
This is common when a merchant moves to a provider we don’t support. For example, if you used Okendo in the past and have since moved to Klaviyo Reviews, we can’t read Klaviyo, but your old Okendo reviews are still on the product, so those are what appear. As long as the old data is still on your product pages, it will be read.
To stop old reviews from showing, the old provider’s review data needs to be removed from your products.
Adding Testimonials with Social Proof Blocks
In addition to star ratings, you can also feature longer customer quotes. This is done by adding a Social Proof Block to your email.
Instant AI will automatically pull in testimonials from your store and display them in the block. If there aren’t any suitable reviews, the block will stay hidden.
Our algorithm selects reviews that are most likely to build trust and help conversion. It only includes:
-
Reviews with 4 stars or higher
-
Reviews that are at least one full sentence long
-
Reviews with positive, helpful sentiment
-
Reviews with signals of usefulness (e.g. Okendo upvotes) where available
You can choose between:
-
Grid view (multiple reviews at once)
-
List view (swipe or scroll through quotes)
FAQ
Why don’t I see reviews in my emails?
There are a few common reasons why reviews may not appear:
- Block type
- Reviews only show in Product Blocks with price. If you’re using an image-only block, switch to a block design that includes product details.
- Provider support
- Reviews are only pulled from supported providers (Okendo, Judge.me, Reviews.io, Yotpo, Loox, Stamped).
- Klaviyo Reviews is not supported. If you use another unsupported provider, reviews won’t display. Adding a Social Proof Block with an unsupported provider will also result in the block being hidden.
- Review quality
- Instant AI only includes valid, positive reviews.
- Placeholder content will never be sent. If you see placeholder text in the on-screen editor but not in your test email, it means no valid reviews are available. This could be that this product has no reviews, or the review provider isn’t supported.
- Ratings and counts
- Ratings below 4 stars or products with no reviews are automatically hidden.
- Check that the product you’re testing has valid reviews available.
- Test product selection
- Test emails use sample products. If the sample product doesn’t have reviews, none will display.
- Try previewing a different flow (e.g. Welcome Flow, which uses Best Sellers) since those products usually have more reviews.
- Preview versus real emails
- The on-screen editor shows rotating sample reviews that refresh every 24 hours to give you examples while designing.
- The Send Test Email option is the most accurate preview of what will appear in real emails, as it pulls real-time review data.
Why are old reviews showing in my emails? Instant AI reads one provider’s data per product. If you’ve switched providers and your previous provider’s reviews are still saved on your product pages, we may keep reading those older reviews. This happens most often when the new provider isn’t one we support, so the only readable data left is from the old provider. Removing the old provider’s review data from your products will stop them appearing.
Why do I see star ratings but no written testimonials? Some providers give us the review count and average rating, but not the written quotes. When that happens, star ratings show in Product Blocks, but Social Proof Blocks stay hidden because there are no readable quotes. Loox and Judge.me are current examples where we can read the count but not the quotes.
How can I check whether my reviews can be read? You can check what review data is stored on a product in your Shopify admin:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Products
- Open the product you’re testing
- Scroll to the Metafields section at the bottom of the product page
- Look for review data written by your review app, such as a rating and a review count
If you can see a rating and count but no review text, your provider only gives us the count, not the written quotes. If you can’t see any review data from your provider, it likely means your provider doesn’t store reviews in a way we can read, so they won’t appear in emails.
Note: Not every review app writes to product metafields, and some only make them visible once a metafield definition has been set up. If you’re unsure what we can read for a specific product, contact support and we can check for you.
Can I turn reviews off? Yes. If you’d prefer not to include reviews, just select a block without product details.
