Getting Started with Instant AI

Instant AI helps you automatically launch high-converting, hyper-personalised email flows without the usual heavy setup. This guide walks you through what’s required to go launch and answers common questions you might have along the way. 

What You’ll Need Before You Start

  • Full Admin access to your Shopify store.
  • Authentication details for your DNS provider
    (or someone you can send an invite to complete on your behalf)



Step 1: Complete Your Sign Up

  • Follow the signup link provided or sign up here 
  • Fill out the requested details (email, name, store URL, etc.) and click Next.
  • Be sure to complete them as accurately as possible

Troubleshooting Tip: Currently, Instant AI only supports Shopify stores. If you can’t complete signup, double-check that your Shopify store URL is correct and all required fields are filled out.

Step 2: Connect Your Shopify Store

  • After signup, follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Shopify store.
  • You’ll be guided to provide a Shopify API key and connect it with Instant
  • Once connected, continue to the next step
  • If you don’t have the option to create a private app, check your Shopify admin permissions.

Troubleshooting Tips: Only one Shopify store can be connected to an Instant account at a time. If you have multiple stores, or are having issues please Contact us.

Step 3: Set Up Your Email Templates

  • Now that your store is connected, you can preview the emails that Instant AI have generated
  • If you need to, you can switch your email layour, colours and logo
  • When you’re happy, click Next to continue.

Remember: Instant AI automatically personalises the subject lines, body text, images, and discounts for each shopper which can’t be controlled up front. You only need to select a template style and let us do the rest to optimise conversions. There are no options for manual editing and it isn't needed. 

Step 4: Set Up Billing and Subscription

  • Enter your billing details through our secure Stripe integration.
  • You will only be charged at the end of every month, based on the emails sent

Troubleshooting Tip: If there’s an issue completing payment, double-check your card details or reach out to support.

Step 5: Complete Activation Tasks

After subscribing, you’ll move to the Activation Page where you’ll finalise technical setup:

1. Install Your Pixel

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add the Instant Pixel to your Shopify store.
  • The Pixel allows Instant to recognise shoppers, apply discounts, and automate key tasks.
  • Carefully check Pixel permissions match and confirm

2. Connect Your Domain

  • Choose automatic DNS connection (recommended) or manually add DNS records.
  • If you aren’t sure how to proceed, or you aren’t the right person with access, you can invite a user who can complete this step for you. Once they’ve completed the step, you can continue with the remaining steps yourself
  • If using an automatic connection:
    • You’ll be redirected to authenticate with your domain provider
    • Once authenticated, we’ll do the rest for you. No more steps are required
  • If using a manual connection:
    • We’ll provide you with all of the details to copy and paste over to your provider
    • You will need to follow the appropriate steps with your provider to apply these changes
  • Once connected, verification may take up to 48 hours depending on your provider. This is a normal, industry standard for any DNS changes across the internet
  • Once you’ve submitted your DNS, you can continue to the next step and we’ll fix this up in the background for you. No need to wait for the verification to complete your set up.

Troubleshooting Tip: If your DNS is still pending after set up, we’ll display a warning message on the dashboard until it’s verified. We can’t send emails under your domain until the DNS is verified, however you can complete your set and even enabled your flows, then we’ll start automatically sending emails once the verification is complete.

Step 6: Launch Your Flows

  • Once Pixel and DNS setup is complete, click Preview and Launch.
  • You can send yourself a test email before launching live.
  • If you skip launch:
    • You’ll land on the Instant Dashboard but all of your flows will be inactive
    • Flows must be manually enabled later — they will not send automatically until launched.
    • You can still continue to explore Instant in the meantime

Pro Tip: You can toggle individual flows on or off anytime from the Dashboard if needed.

 


FAQ's

Do I have to complete the Pixel and DNS setup?

Yes. Both the Pixel and DNS connection are required for Instant AI to send emails, apply discounts correctly, and track shopper activity. Without them, your flows won’t function properly.

Why is my DNS still pending verification?

While your DNS is still pending, you may see a warning message on the dashboard until it’s verified. DNS verification can take up to 48 hours depending on your domain provider. This delay is normal for any provider and happens because DNS changes need time to update across the internet. You don’t need to take any action while it’s pending. You can continue setting up Instant AI, and once verification is complete, you’ll be able to launch your flows. We’ll display a warning if your DNS is still pending over the next 48 hours and when it’s cleared you’ll be good to go!

Can I update my branding after setup?

Absolutely. You can update your logo, brand colours, and master brand settings anytime under Configuration → Brand. Your changes will automatically apply across all future emails.

What if I accidentally connect the wrong Shopify store?

No problem. Reach out to our support team, we’ll help you disconnect and reconnect the right store.

Can I customise the flows or emails?

Instant AI automatically personalises each email based on shopper behaviour, there's no manual editing needed. You can customise your overall branding (like layout style, colours, and logo), but the content inside the emails is dynamically generated for the best possible performance.
