What is the Yotpo Reviews integration?

The Yotpo Reviews integration connects your Yotpo Reviews account to Instant AI. Yotpo review events can start review flows in Instant, your review request emails link to Yotpo’s verified review link, and your emails show your reviews and star ratings from Yotpo.

Why you need it

  • Without it, Instant does not know when Yotpo makes an order ready for a review request, so your Yotpo review request flows cannot start.
  • Without it, Instant does not know when a shopper leaves a review in Yotpo.
  • Without it, your emails cannot show your Yotpo reviews and star ratings.

How to set it up

Before you start

  • You need an active Yotpo Reviews account for the same store.
  • You need to be able to log in to Yotpo and approve access for Instant.
  • If Yotpo Loyalty is already connected, Yotpo Reviews uses the same Yotpo account.

Connecting Yotpo Reviews

  1. In your Instant AI dashboard, click the Settings cog in the bottom left corner
  2. Under Site, select Integrations
  3. Select the Reviews tab, or search for Yotpo
  4. Click Connect on the Yotpo Reviews card
  5. If Yotpo Loyalty is already connected, click Connect Yotpo Reviews. You do not need to log in to Yotpo again
  6. If Yotpo Loyalty is not connected, click Continue to Yotpo Reviews, then log in to Yotpo and approve access for Instant
  7. Yotpo Reviews shows on the Connected tab

Setting up a review flow

  1. Go to Flows in your Instant AI dashboard
  2. Scroll to the Reviews section
  3. Click Manage flows to see every flow in that section
  4. Click Set up next to the flow you want
  5. The flow opens on the Template tab with a starter email already written. Edit the copy and design to suit your brand
  6. Enable the flow when you are ready to send

Note: If you use a Yotpo review request flow, turn off the review request emails in Yotpo, any Yotpo review request flow in Klaviyo, and the Request Review flow in Instant. If you do not, shoppers get more than one review request for the same order.

How it works

Review flows

Each flow starts when Yotpo sends Instant the matching event. 3 flows in the Reviews section can start from Yotpo:

  • Request Review on Delivery: starts when Yotpo makes a delivered order ready for a review request.
  • Request Review on Fulfillment: starts when Yotpo makes a fulfilled order ready for a review request.
  • Review Submitted: starts when a shopper leaves a review through Yotpo. Use it to thank the shopper for their review.

Review request emails

In the Request Review on Delivery and Request Review on Fulfillment flows:

  • The main button links to Yotpo’s verified review link for the order.
  • The email shows the products from the order.

To add the link to your own text or button, type {{ in a Rich Text block and search for Review link.

Tip: The starter emails already include the review link. Keep it in place when you edit the copy.

Reviews and star ratings in your emails

When Yotpo Reviews is connected, Instant gets your reviews and star ratings from Yotpo for your product blocks and Social Proof blocks:

  • Yotpo is the only review source. Instant does not read review data from other review apps on your products.
  • Instant gets new reviews from Yotpo every 24 hours, so a new or removed review can take up to a day to change in your emails.
  • Instant does not show incentivised reviews.

FAQ

I already had a Social Proof block in my emails. Why do I still see my old reviews? A block that was already in an email can keep the reviews it had before you connected. Refresh the block in each email, or remove it and add it again, to show your Yotpo reviews.

Can I connect only Yotpo Reviews, or only Yotpo Loyalty? Yes. Each one connects on its own. If you connect both, they use the same Yotpo account.

What is the difference between the Request Review flow and the Yotpo review request flows? The Request Review flow sends 7 days after Shopify marks an order fulfilled, and its links go to your product pages. The Yotpo flows start when Yotpo makes an order ready for a review request, and they link to Yotpo’s review link. Use one of them, not both.

Can I connect a different Yotpo store to the same Instant site? No. Disconnect Yotpo Reviews and Yotpo Loyalty first, then connect the other store.

What happens if I disconnect Yotpo Reviews? Your Yotpo review flows stop starting, and Instant stops getting reviews from Yotpo for your emails. If Yotpo Loyalty is connected, it stays connected.
