How promotions work with Instant AI

Instant AI automatically reads visible promotional text on your website and can include that messaging in email content. For example, if your site displays a banner like “20% off storewide”, Instant AI may reference that in emails so shoppers see consistent messaging.

This is separate from coupons, which are discount codes you configure directly in your Instant AI abandonment emails. Coupons are independent of your general site promotions, since they’re applied only within Instant AI emails and will continue running until you pause them.

If you do not configure coupons with Instant AI, they won't be used, however Instant AI will use promotions by default for all customers.

Promotions

  • Detected automatically from visible text on your website

  • These are most likely scraped from the banner at the top of your site however may also be located elsewhere
  • No setup needed and will generate automatically

  • Reflects what is currently visible on your pages

  • We don’t read or include any terms and conditions unless they’re part of the visible text

  • Most emails only account for a sentence or so to talk about the promotions, so it's likely it will only list a subject line and brief body copy to engage the shopper, but the outcome is to encourage them to return to your site for all of the details.

Coupons

  • Discount codes you configure for use in abandonment emails and welcome emails

  • These are specifically generated just for email marketing
  • Independent of any sitewide offers you may be running

FAQ's

  1. Why is Instant AI showing a promotion that’s no longer on my site?

It’s important to check when the email was sent. Instant AI references what was on your site at the time the shopper was identified and the email was generated. If the email was created while the promotion was active, it may still mention it even if your site has since been updated.

Also check whether there may still be hidden remnants of the promotion text on your site (e.g. text that’s styled to be invisible but still present in the HTML). Instant AI reads the HTML source, so hidden text can still be picked up.

  2. How can I check what promotion text is currently included?
You can send a test email from any Instant AI flow at any time. The test email will show the real content that would generate for shoppers based on your website’s current visible text. This is the fastest way to verify what Instant AI will reference.

  3. How do I reduce how prominent promotions appear in emails?
The prominence depends on your selected template. Some designs include a dedicated header banner for promotions, making them highly visible at the top of the email. Other designs do not include a banner and will only mention promotions in subject lines or within the body copy.

Even if you choose a design without a banner, Instant AI may still reference a visible promotion if it is actively displayed on your site but it will appear as inline text rather than a featured banner. To reduce promotion visibility further, you can also review and adjust your site content so promotions are removed when no longer needed.

  4. A promotion has ended but it’s still showing — what should I check?
There are a few steps to troubleshoot this:

    1.  Inspect your site’s HTML: Look for any remaining instances of the promotion text in the page source, even if it’s no longer visible to shoppers. Text hidden using styling (e.g. invisible font colour or display:none) can still be read by Instant AI.

    2. Check all placements: If the promotion appeared in multiple areas (e.g. a homepage banner and a footer), ensure it has been removed from all locations.

    3. Test email preview: Send a test email to confirm what Instant AI is currently seeing and including.

If you’ve verified that the promotion text is fully removed from your site but it still appears in Instant AI emails, please contact help@instant.one for assistance. We’re happy to help review and troubleshoot further.
